Our History

The Galilean Home, located in the rolling hills of Liberty, Kentucky has been serving children and young adults since 1969. It is a non-profit ministry founded by Jerry and Sandy Tucker, with the simple purpose of helping those that need help and loving those that need love.

Back in the early 70’s, after several unsuccessful years of trying to start their own family, the couple was able to adopt a three-and-a-half-month old boy with medical problems who had been given up by his teen-aged mother. Since that time, they could not say no to any child that came into their lives from local adoptions to many from Haiti and Honduras. Sandy said, “I don’t think God gave me time to think about it. We took every child God sent us – One person’s pain is another person’s joy. Sandy Tucker knew the goodness of God.

Sandy passed away in 2016 and Jerry is still very involved in the ministry.  Click here to read a recent article written about Jerry. Today, there are 35 permanent residents who live at the home with needs ranging from being completely bed ridden to ones who need supervision but are self-sufficient. We also offer respite assistance for those families who may sometimes need a break from caring for a loved one.

Our Mission

We will, with honesty, integrity, and great privilege, provide children of all ages, from one day old to “children in their 50’s and beyond”, with love, care, medical attention, education, employment, and recreation.

We feel that, through sharing each other’s knowledge, skills, and abilities, all will benefit and flourish. We do this in a family-oriented setting, making all who come under our care feel as though they belong to bigger than themselves.

We emphasize that all members of our organization work together to accomplish our common goals. We feel that, through sharing each other’s knowledge, skills, and abilities, all will benefit and flourish.
